Resolved Question: Why did Anastasia Myskina
She won a grand slam and disappeared. Kind of the opposite of what you expect to happen.

Resolved Question: Kimmie clijsters is
martina hingis: former no. 1 forced to retire due to drug suspension. she could be back when the suspension is over.
justine henin: former no 1 inexplicably retired in her prime. still only 26
lindsay davenport: former no 1 might come back after pregnancy
mary pierce: almost came back from surgery in the olympics last year. still has a chance to come back or at least play a few farewell games like kuerten last year
jenny capriati: fomer no. 1 recently turned 33. still young enough to play but window of opportunity is closing
monica seles: former no. 1 seles officially retired last year but hasn't play on the tour since 2003. she is 35 but probably still has what it takes to be a top 15 player. (jimmy connors? navratinova? agassi?)
anastasia myskina: former no 2, french open champ, and the pioneer of the current crop of russian tennis girls hasn't played since 2007 due to injuries and poor results. only 27
steffi graf: if jimmy connors can do it at age 38, why can't steff, the greatest tennis player ever? she is not yet 40 and the women game is not as competitive and power-based as men. given a few months to get in shape, she could still be a threat to be in the top 10
other possibilities: former no 1 arantxa sanchez vicario, conchita martinez both are mediocre near the end of their careers, but they are still top 40 players if they come back
