Resolved Question: Sierra, if this will help
First, thank U 4 hearing him out when you asked him for his thoughts; U sound like a good friend 2 him. . I think Ur friend is simply young & inexperienced .... that he hasn't been though enough of life's experiences, pain & struggles 2 help him matures as a person & follower of Christ. & just living life will help him to do that, & Jesus Christ will help him, too. And my guess is that you will see him become more relaxed as he becomes more secure within his own self and his own relationship with Jesus Christ. . Many Conservative Christian young people are being taught that they should not only be celibate until they marry, but also that they shouldn't even kiss until the wedding ceremony. The goal is to keep them from sinning ...... like how a city might set a speed limit of 40 mph, but the police making drivers go 20mph to make sure that they didn't go over the 40 mph speed limit. . He may also be a member of an excessively strict Christian church (as i was once, too) ... that is like a cult in many ways. . It might help you to be his friend if you were able to read some of what he is reading ... not accepting it if U don’t want to, but just to understand him. Some books I think might help U to understand what is going on with him better are books from New Life Ministries, newlife.com, and "Churches that Abuse" and "The Subtle Power of Spiritual Abuse" (by David Johnson & Jeff VanVonderen). And as a counterbalance to all that he is saying, you might like books by Max Lucado & listen to Dr. Mark L. Walker @ Mount Paran North Church of God in Marietta, GA (& website). They may be able to help you with any follow up questions & concerns U might have. I hope that helps you a little bit, Sierra. I will be praying for you and your friend. T I am so very sorry if U deleted Ur question because of cruel answers; i understand (have had many myself). There is no "Best Answer" in this case; the one answer that was made was abusive & violent & does not meet Yahoo!Answers guidelines.) Hi,IB.Thank U 4 Ur caring answer. To fill U in,Sierra had left a?; S was an atheist&had a Christian male friend who'd explained that in his religion she'd be considered a ***** because she wore make-up,modern clothes, etc. She was asking4advice...&she'd received so many abusive comments frm Christians she'd deleted her?before i could answer her...so i left this for her, hoping that she'd find it&it would help her.

Resolved Question: Help me restore my
ive grown up in a catholic household, baptized at 4 months old. faith was never a big thing for me until a couple of years ago when i felt i needed to become closer to god. i started going to a baptist youth group about 2 and a half years ago where we talked about god and shared our stories. at the time i thought my faith became stronger and stronger. i always felt god was on my side. id pray everyday. i enjoyed sharing my faith and beliefs with people. i bought a bible. i read it. i felt like nothing could stop me if god was with me. in the past month ive been going through so much crap. im just mentally and spiritually drained. one night, a little over 2 weeks ago i hit my breaking point, id never been so depressed and sad in my entire life. i basically just told myself im giving up on god, because if hes not getting me through this, whats he ever going to get me through? ive just been drifting further and further since. every time i talk about my faith i feel like im lying, i kind of am lying. i just want to hear gods voice. i hear so many people talking about how god has talked to them. its never happened to me, no matter how hard i pray. i went to a camp with my youth group last year and the "speakers" there wanted to teach everyone how to talk to god and the whole speaking in tongues thing. everyone who tried to have this experience, did. apart from me. id just sat there like, god? where are you. i did feel his presence, but was it just in my mind? i had about 5 or 6 people praying on me at the same time, as well as me praying. nothing happened. all i felt was frustration. why cant god speak to me? now i just feel like i cant be bothered praying or reading my bible or going to church or anything. im at the point where i need rescue. i cant deal with this. i just wanna quit work and school and go home for a year. put my life on hold. but is that just because im struggling with my faith so much? can anyone help me? this is killing me.

Resolved Question: Can you answer this
I recently heard a Christian friend say, "I believe we all have different lives to fulfill some different purpose on the earth." What are these different purposes? How, according to your belief, does one go about finding one's purpose of life? I REQUEST atheists, to simply skip this question, and avoid giving sarcastic comments on an issue that is not relevant to you. Your answers have led to one more question - What is His (God's) purpose for you? Any means of finding that? PS: Atheists, I REQUEST you to do join in, and give your answer. I will filter them and get to the 'relevant' (and sensible) answers that come. ;) Also, I didn't question an atheist's (or an African baboon's) capacity to have a purpose in life. I merely was asking for the Christian's notion of it. PPS: Atheists, my original intent was not to be rude of be insulting. But I see that in the earlier para, I haven't been able to resist the temptation to get back. (Your barrage of answers, in spite of my sincere request, put me off.) All the same, I was mistaken in being rude, and I AM SORRY. I hope you'll be large-hearted and will forgive. No harsh feelings. Cheers.
