Resolved Question: Question about Archbishop
What do you think of his stand on LGBT rights............? \
For those who don't know, Archbishop Tutu is the former Anglican Archbishop of South Africa, famous for leading the Boycotts against South Africa during the Apartheid movement, which lead to the release of Nelson Mandela, and also famous for leading the Truth and reconciliation commission which brought together whites and blacks after decades of hatred and mistrust in South Africa.
He is also famous for his stand on issues like combating HIV/AIDS, with the Desmond Tutu HIV/AIDS foundation being one of the largest foundations in Africa combating AIDS, his stand on women's rights, particularly when it comes to child brides and contraception, stand on condemning Israel's treatment of the Palestinians, his condemnation of Guantanomo Bay and Torture as well as condemning American unilateralism, particularly in Iraq.
Recently he has made a lot of news on his stand on LGBT issues, saying "If God were Homophobic I wouldn't worship that God" and "I would prefer Hell over a Homophobic Heaven". These comments come in the context of the fact that he has been leading efforts to combat the criminalization of Homosexuality in Africa, particularly in Uganda where the Death penalty is being proposed. He has said that it is time to "stand up against all forms of Apartheid, racial or sexual".
