You are correct that his political views could effect his conclusions. But other scientists will test his findings. If his findings are determined to be flawed, the other scientists will find out that they are. The problem with using the person's personality to validate his/her conclusions in science is that a saint can produce wrong conclusions and a sinner can produce correct conclusions. Scientists test the conclusions of either, An ad hominem argument is not necessarily the same as an insult. It is the use of a person's personality or politics to come to a conclusion about the validity of such a person's opinions or conclusions, without examining the opinions or conclusions, themselves.
