Resolved Question: Does anyone know the name
About 40 years ago, I remember seeing a movie that I am interested to see again. It was probably in black and white.
The movie takes place in the far north west, back in the day when "Mail Order Brides" were common and about a girl who was mute from tramatization because her family was butchered by indians.
The girl was taken in by some psuedo charitable family.
The woman of that family was at the boat dock one day when a boat load of mail order brides de-embarked, and witnessed the outrage of one of the customers when his bride was not on the boat.
The woman took advantage of the situation to get rid of the girl by delivering the
girl as a substitute for the man's missing bride.
Subsequently the girl was hauled off to the man's trapping cabin in the middle of nowhere,
where she proceeded to civilize the brute and they eventually learned to love each other.

Resolved Question: Old,Canadian movie with
A long time ago I saw a movie I recall really liking.I think it was a Canadian movie because it had a popular Canadian actress in it.It was about a maid who could not read who worked for a family. She catches the brother and sister having an affair-they explain to her that they are not biological siblings. At one point in the movie there is man outside her window when she is wearing a slip-dress and she cuts her hand with a knife. She then is later joined by a woman played by the actress who played Aunt Hetty on the tv show Road To Avonlea, who is wearing flashy 1970's style clothing;bell-bottoms and shiny platform shoes and carrying a hunting rifle. The family is shot by either her or the two women together.I can't recall the ending exactly as I saw the movie once about 20 years ago while watching tv. I would like to know the name of this film please.
