Open Question: Quote from Dumpster:'Iceland
All Iceland's footballers are professionals and many of them play in the best leagues in Europe. Many play in the English Prem, the German Budesliga, Spanish La Liga, Serie A and other very respectable leagues.
Just because you are ignorant about the Iceland national team, doesn't give you permission to lie. Iceland have more players playing a higher level than the US does.
As was mentioned before, the USA took Aron Johannsson and nationalised him into a US citizen as they saw him as their key attacker. This was at a time Iceland didn't even see him worthy of getting a call up to the Iceland national team, so they happily let him jump ship and represent the USA instead of Iceland. Johannsson has even been capped 19 times by the US and has scored 7 goals for them. Iceland have better players than him. that's why they never capped him and had no problem seeing him leave to the US.
It is no coincidence that Iceland have consistently had good results, their a very tough team. Beating Croatia is only one in a great line of wins for them. Only the elite teams of the world would beat Iceland confidently. Finnbogason: Augsburg in the Bundesliga, used to play in La Liga for Real Sociedad and was a leading scorer in the Dutch league prior to that.
Kolbeinn Sigþórsson: Nantes in the French League, he used to also be a regular for Ajax. Was on loan to Galatasaray last season.
Gylfi Sigurðsson: plays for Swansea City in the Premier League, he used to be a regular for Tottenham and Hoffenheim. Emil Hallfreðsson: he is a key player for Udinese in Serie A.
Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson: he is a key player for Burnley in the Premier League.
Birkir Bjarnason: A key player for Aston Villa, he used to play for Sampdoria and Basel.
Aron Gunnarsson: Cardiff City, he has played many years in the Premier League.
Sverrir Ingi Ingason: Plays for Granada in the La Liga
Ragnar Sigurðsson: Plays for Fulham, he used to play for Copenhagen. Rúrik Gíslason: Plays for Nuremburg in Germany.
Albert Guðmundsson: Plays for top Dutch side PSV Eidnhoven.
Hörður Björgvin Magnússon: Plays for Bristol City, he used to play for Juventus.
Ari Freyr Skúlason: Plays for Lokeren in Belgium
The rest of the Iceland players play for the best clubs in Switzerland, Austria Sweden, Denmark and Norway.
