Where is a good place to stop off at on the train between Sofia, Bulgaria and Thessaloniki, Greece?
I am traveling to Thessaloniki, Greece, but due to the strike I have to spend 1 more day in Bulgaria. I want to find an interesting place to spend the day along the train line between Sofia and Thessaloniki. Any advice would be wonderful, thank you!

Resolved Question: How much would it cost to
We'd be looking to rent in a city. Thanks. Princess: Any city is ok, except Sofia as it would probably be too expensive. We wouldn't really want one of the tourist towns like Sunny Beach or Bansko or whatever (again expensive) We spent a few weeks in Blagoevgrad before, that was ok. The apartment doesn't have to be city centre, suburbs are ok too (just as long as the apartment is nice enough and in good condition!) Thanks : ) We have seen a studio apartment near the black sea coast in one of those many newish developments, already built, for about €180 a month.
