Resolved Question: Vacationing in South
My family and I are going on a 3-day trip to South Korea and I have some questions.
-Where do you recommend we go and sightsee?
-Where should we stay? My dad is contemplating between those traditional Korean houses (I think they're called guesthouses) we can stay in or a reasonably priced hotel. We haven't got one booked yet since he's still deciding. How much would they cost?
-How will we communicate with the people when we don't know the language?
-Should we book one of those tour things, where they show you certain spots around the city and translate things for you? I thought this was a good idea at first, but those tour things are usually on a tight schedule and go strictly only to the places they are assigned to.
-How do we navigate around? Korea is so different from America. It's kinda confusing. The subway system and streets also confuse me.
-Is the Korean currency similar to American currency? The exchange rate?
-Where should we eat?

My friends (both white) were intimidated without particular reasons when they were the Capital.
(one guy was hit when he told he did not smoke to a girl who works the cigarette promotion in the street.
I remember that Korean shop owner shot a black child in LA many years ago.

Resolved Question: Time to travel..South
I want to travel to South Korea, maybe Seoul but I'm not sure.
Here's a few facts:
I traveling with my mother and 2 younger siblings
We either going to be in Seattle, Washington or Portland, Oregon or California. Not sure at this time
I want something cheap, safe, and nice
Hotel/Motel with swimming pool would be nice.
Something close to stores, restaurant, and transportation
What place are good to stay in? I would do jimjilbang/hostel but I'm going with family.
What is the best and cheapest time to go?
What websites are good to get a package deal? or what airline to take?
What city should I stay in? Best hotels/motels? or any other ideas?
What do when I get there? Any fun ideas?
What not to do? I'm only going to visit the country for a week or so. I do plan to move in the future. I have my personal and professional reasons but for now I just want to go for pleasure and learn more about the culture and its people.
