Resolved Question: Getting married in Spain?
My fiance' and myself are looking to marry in Spain. He is a Spanish citizen and I am English, and we are both English residents. Just to add we are both Catholic (but not practising).
We would like a civil ceremony, however keep reading different things that are required, and are not really sure if we can have a civil ceremony if we are not Spanish residents?? We are thinking its easier to go the church route as we are both Catholic, and maybe to join our local catholic church here in the UK??
We plan on marrying round the region Aviles in Asturias, and understand once we have picked our venue we need to visit the most local town hall to ask what documentation is needed, is this correct?
Does anyone know any up to date information regarding marrying in Spain with our situation?
Also does anyone know, if we have a civil ceremony in Spain are we classified as legally married in UK??
If anyone knows of any good wedding venues in Asturias (don't mind which region, we are quite open) can you send links.
I would be much appreciative of any help and advice, I really don't want to set my heart on something that can never happen!!!
Many Thanks for your time.
