Open Question: How safe is it for US
I'm planning on visiting Ukraine but some people say it's "war torn" right now. No doubt. But how safe is it to visit Z-town or Dnepropetrovsk? Don't tell me to visit the Embassy website because I have already. I was thinking of teaching English there. The website says don't try to go to Crimea or Lugansk. It is hell on earth there. How safe is Odessa? Rivne? Cherkassy? Sumy? Any ideas?

Resolved Question: Are Russian women really
Please tell me if you have heard of this before?
Please tell me: Are ALL Russian / Ukrainian women just scammers, are there NO good honest women in those countries?
This is the situation that I heard about from a Russian man here in Canada, he told me that this is how it goes in Russia and Ukraine these days:
1 - A lady makes only $100 - $200 USD per month in her job, not even enough to buy food and laundry detergent and other things everyone needs just to live.
2 - She hears from her friends that they can make money off dumb foreign men searching for love, so she joins a marriage agency
3 - She speaks FLUENT English, but in her profile she says that she’s a ‘Beginner’ and doesn’t know any English.
4 - She’s 24 years old and really doesn’t want anyone outside of the age range of 22 - 29, but to get more men (more ‘suckers’) to write to her, she say she’s seeking men age 18 - 95.
5 - Interpreters in her city charge from $7 to $12 per hour, NOBODY charges more than that, but when a foreign man comes she insists on using her “personal interpreter”, or an “interpreter she’s comfortable with”, and suddenly the pay needed for the interpreter jumps to $20 to $25 per hour. What this almost ALWAYS involves is that the interpreter gets half the money and the lady gets the other half.
6 - The lady meets the foreign man for 4 days, each day for 4 hours. This nets her 4 X 4 X $10 per hour = $160, which is more money than she earns in a whole month in her crummy job as a cashier / hairdresser / etc.
7 - The lady doesn’t give a hoot about the man, she’s only interested in the money she can earn from him, that’s all. For people who don't believe me, in November 2009 I traveled to Cherkassy Ukraine to meet 3 young women. I did not want any relationship with them, I knew darned well they were way too young for me, all I wanted to do was just chat about life and that's it, you know, friendly like. I met this 24 year old lady and we went bowling together. I am a really lousy bowler ! Near the end of the game her boyfriend started calling her on her cell phone, he was angry that she wasn't home, he was beginning to scream at her, I could hear him from across the room his voice on the phone was so loud ! She told me that her boyfriend demanded that she return immediately. I asked her why was she on a marriage agency if she already had a boyfriend. She told me that I was a nice guy, nicer than most other foreign men so she would tell me the truth. She told me that almost all Ukrainian women have local boyfriends, they are human too and they need regular sex, so they have boyfriends. But they need some extra money, their salaries are not enough so they charge more for the interpreter and then they get a bit of the money from the interpreter, not exactly half but maybe a third or a quarter of what the interpreter gets. She told me that some of her friends' interpreters charge $40 or $50 per hour and the interpreter gets half and the lady gets half, she told me that this is common in Ukraine, everyone does it, its no big thing. I was grateful for her telling me the truth. Winter was coming and her boots looked really old and worn out so I gave her $500 cash just for a gift, I wanted to make sure that she got all the cash and didn't have to share it with her interpreter. The next day she asked me if I wanted to meet with he again, she was really looking forward to meeting with me. I had to say 'no', I didn't want to spend another few hundred dollars just for a light chat. Instead I walked around the city and spent my time taking photos of the city instead. I met 2 other women durin I met 2 other women during that week and all of them split the interpreter's money after our meeting was finished.
There is a web site listing the Interpeter's fees, it ranges from $10 to $20 per hour. When I went there in 2009 the fees were lower at $7 to $15 per hour in 2009. Here is the location of that web site, check it out for yourself and you will see that I am telling the 100% truth here: http://www.russia-ukraine-travel.com/cherkasy.html
About that IP address stuff; try entering the name ' Kievconnections.com ', ( at this site: http://ip2geolocation.com/?ip=kievconnections.com&x=19&y=19 ) you will get pointed to the location as being in America, but the truth is that it really is located in Kiev, the office is in Kiev, not America, only the name is registered in America, so this location finding is just a bunch of crap, sorry about that. Read the information about the agency from this site, you will see for yourself: http://www.kievconnections.com
