I'm travelling around Zimbabwe for two months and a friend of mine says I should get a driving licence whilst there (I haven't got one here in the uk) to make things easier but I'm not a resident could I possibly get a licence when I'm only there for two months? Also what is the cost generally and what is required? Many thanks!

well... me and my family live in England but we have houses and family in Zimbabwe, anyway around March time my parents decided to send a car to Zimbabwe ( A green Nissan Terrano II) using a freight service, we payed about £1200-£1500 to ship the car to Beitbridge, (a main port city in Zimbabwe) and on the way there it docked in South Africa. In the car we had about 10 computers, pots and pans, 2x 72 piece plate sets, tool and lots of clothes and all of our photo albums, when the car eventually arrived in Beitbridge and it was collected by my uncle, they found that almost all the tools have been taken, all the computers, all the clothes and all the photo albums.(I am especially upset about these as they hold almost all the photographd taken in my life...) What would you do and how would you continue, would you sue??

We will collect our own vehicle at Beitbridge. Europcar Rental SA does not allow their fleet over the border into Zim. Europcar Rental Zim are willing to deliver a vehicle to our hotel in Jo'burg and then we return it to Harare but of course the cost is high and invloves travelling in another direction across Zimbabwe because we are heading for the eastern mountains-Manicaland. Ideally we need a friendly SA driver who we can pay to take us to Beitbridge. Warnings apart though valued, can we focus on journey by road please? Im off to check Greyhound buses now
