Resolved Question: How religious are the
I'm trying to figure out the relationship between religious belief/affiliation and economic success. I know that the two religious groups in the US with the highest average income and wealth are Jews and Episcopalians (a "mainline" Protestant Christian denomination - same as the Anglican or Church of England - I guess most "WASPs" are Episcopal. Interestingly, they make up about 2% of the US population, about the same as Jews.
But "Jews" can mean a lot of different things. It's first and foremost an ethnic group with its own religion. But you don't have to believe in the religion to be a Jew. From what I understand, most American Jews are not religious and don't belong to a Jewish synagogue or temple (they're "unaffiliated" Jews). The rest belong to one of the three main "branches" (denominations) of Judaism: the next biggest group belong to the most liberal branch of Judaism: Reform Judaism. Then there are the Conservative Jews, who are more traditional than Reform Jews, and finally the smallest group of Jews (and the most traditional/conservative) are the Orthodox, but they are the most visible because they wear traditional clothing (from 18th century Poland, actually, not ancient Israel, oddly enough).
I only know of one super-rich Jewish family who are Orthodox - and that is the Bronfmans of Canada.
My question is about the rest of the super-rich or highly influential Jewish people... do they tend to be unaffiliated, or Reform, or Conservative? I suspect most are one of these, but it would be interesting to know for sure.
What is the religious affiliation (if any) of the following people?
George Soros (OK, I know this one - he's secular and unaffiliated)
Alan Greenspan
Ben Bernanke
Lloyd Blankfein
Robert Rubin
Larry Summers
John Paulson
Marc Rich
Ronald Perelman
Carl Icahn
Michael Steinhardt
Bruce Wasserstein
Ivan Boesky
Michael Milken
Asher Edelman
Sandy Weill
Michael Bloomberg
Lawrence (Larry) Ellison
Sergey Brin
Lawrence (Larry) Page
Steven Ballmer
Michael Dell
Mark Zuckerberg babiie gurll - wrong thread, and hey, you asked my opinion! It's nothing personal - I don't even know you. Go ahead - become an addict - with your attitude, I don't care! By the way, my mother really suffered those last two years with cancer, but I guess you think you'll be forever young, right? OK then. Do whatever you want. The advertisements make it look so cool, so I guess it must be.

If anyone knows any economic concepts that helped him achieve success please let me know. If you could also explain why I would greatly appreciate it. I was thinking how he ended up rich by replacing Microsft's employee stock options program and was wondering if this in an economic concpet. If so, what specifically is the economic concpet, and any details to help me write a paper.
