Resolved Question: What are your thoughts on
Rock & Pop, what are your thoughts on Astral Weeks by Van Morrison? Personally, I'd say that Astral Weeks is an excellent album. Van Morrison's vocals on the album are full of emotion and soul; you can feel what he's trying to say, and he expresses himself with an incredible amount of honesty and feeling. The lyrics are fantastic throughout, and the music is quite beautiful. Much of Astral Weeks feels like a wonderfully meandering adventure through some magical forest, and its skillful blending of folk with jazz, soul and blues is always awe-inspiring. in conclusion, Astral Weeks is truly a classic album. BQ: Favorite songs from Astral Weeks? BQ2: What are your thoughts on Van Morrison's vocals and lyrics on Astral Weeks? BQ3: Would you consider Astral Weeks to be a life-changing album, in some ways? BQ4: If Astral Weeks was a picture book, then what type of picture book would it be?

Resolved Question: Was Van Morrison's song
His opening track for his 1979 album Wavelength began, 'So glad to see you / So glad you're here / Come here beside me now / We can clear inhibition away'. The chorus went, 'Oh they were swingin' / Down at the Kingdom Hall / Oh, bells were ringin' ' Down at the KH / A choir was singin' / Down at the KH'. Apparently his mother took him to the Kingdom Hall for two years, when he was a little boy. But everyone knows there's no swinging, bells ringing or choirs singing at any Kingdom Hall! Even clapping is frowned upon and dancing is prohibited! But the song could well describe a Pentecostal or Charismatic meeting. Was Van Morrison mixing up the Kingdom Hall with the Pentecostal churches, or was he just being utterly sarcastic about Kingdom Hall meetings? yes, GT, and here's a quote from a 1997 interview by Edna Gundersen for Music Central Online. She asked if he was raised as a JW. "He answered, 'No, no, no. I wasn't raised anything. My mother went to some meetings at some point. She took me to some meetings. She didn't call herself that. It was only for a couple of years.... She never joined anything." His mum went to a wide variety of religious meetings. Not just the Kingdom Hall ones! I think Van Morrison might have been been suffering from pre-senile dementia when he penned that Kingdom Hall song! Either that, or he'd had one bevvy too many!

Resolved Question: Where in Cambridge,
I have loved the album for years, and always assumed he wrote it in Belfast. After living in Cambridge for several months, I discovered he wrote it here, of all places. I would love to find out where in this town he lived. Does anyone know?
